Last Day

Today is the end of everything...I was rushing in the morning to finish up finalsing the script and the write up about Crewsade...I got to say that I was kind of rude to ignore people talking to me, to cut the queue at Xorex and to just be a loner. However, there were greater things at stake and to heck with all formalities and stuff, I am the type of person that would do anything to accomplish a given task, especially when im minutes away from the deadline.

I finally took a breather while I watch the hardcopy of the script pass onto the hands of Wahidah, I ended the race there. Oh yea...there is still this blog thing that I have to print out and submit on Monday, no worries, I still have got 3 more days.

Sometimes, I prefer to be caught up with a little work so that I won't spend my time idling at home doing nothing. Then again, I would have the time to impove and research on stuff like editing, VFX, getting better camera angles & playing around more with lightings. Oh well, lets go those things started.

I really learnt a lot in this 2 months of Project 1. I realised that 1 man show is not the way to go about doing things. More rather, teamwork and magnifying & supporting each other is equally important. There is no such things as "Most Valued Person" for everyone is of great value and no one can do anything without the other. I am very proud of Crewsade, and most of all, our work.

However, like I said in the video "Normal is good, just like the rest. But its not the best" Although we are more than normal, we will not be complacent and lift our heads. I will definately continue to learn from more sources. To be honest, I think that everyone in Moi is definately good in something of their own. What Mr Ronald said was right, we should share our knowledge and help each other improve. Of course, there must be a case of give and take....haha.

My last words before I end this blog...The "best" are not defined by the people, for everyone's "best" differs from each other.

Crewsader...out~

Day51 !9/03/08 D-day

We were excited, we knew how well we fared, we were ready.

However, I can't say the same for the other groups for some of them were still rendering files, some had technical issues, some weren,t even in school yet. Well, I guess al groups have got their troubles, so did ours, except that we saw all these coming. Raj told us to be early, I guess he made his point. He took the trouble to make sure everything would be in place, we learnt our lessons from the previous issues of puncutality. We made it happen by juts arriving on time, in fact, the first group to be at the location of the screening seession.

How ironic, the first will be the last, that sounds firmilar, I remembered somewhere in the bible that said something like that, except, in our case, its not realy a bad thing. Well, Crewsade sat through the whole screening and we saw what the other groups did. I thought to myself that we were facing some competition of being the best, my resolve was slightly shaken.

I personally like some like Snap and Stickman productions...I think that they were pretty good in terms of the effects and the content. I realised that some groups forgot their content which I thought was a pity for they had pretty good effects.

It was finally our turn. I felt this tinge of tension within, it wasn't a bad feeling, more rather, a good tension. Its like we know that we have done our best and this is it. I was so encouraged by the murmurs and wows that were emited from the audiences. The sudden clapping delivered in the middle of the showcase by Mr Ronald really took me off. I felt really encouraged. Then the clapping of all that were awed by our production, our hardwork and discipline in it. I've made it happen, no wait. CREWSADE MADE IT HAPPEN!!!

I was so relieved that it was over and we received such feedback. There was no need for words, it was more than words.

Special thanks goes to Raj Greg & Wendy...thank you guys for making it happen...Raj the leader, Greg the encourager & Wendy the most discipline. Words cannot contain the praise and feelings I have for you guys, just realise it in your hearts.

I would also like to thank those that stood by us, you know who u are, we love you all. Oh yea...and to the lecturers too, well, you wouldn't turn us down if we come to you. You guided us and helped us when to grow in this project.

Thank God for making a way when there seems to be no way. Thank you for making it happen.

Day50 18/03/08

Its the final interim, or rather, consultation.

I watched the results of what Raj did. I was taken aback. I could not believe my eyes that we actually done that. It was not just me, Wendy and Greg had the similar expression that I carried upon viewing what was almost finished. However, there were still some minor issues that Wahidah pointed out while going through the video like our voices competing with the background music. Well, I can say that I am very satisfied with the results, however, we have come so far so just take in all the comments and make it as perfect as it can be...

I am really grateful that I have such wonderful teammates for we all share the same goals and mentaility which was to be the best among the whole batch of Moi...but its not decided yet...theres still one more day before we prove ourselves. The comments of "you can't do it", "its too epic, too ambitious", "just play safe" and many other discouraging phrases that on the contrary boosts our moral.

What can I say, I like being the underdog sometimes.

Oh yea, I finished watching my animae till its lastest episodes, looks like I did had lots of time to spare.

Day43 11/03/08

I haven't updated for sometime from the last time cuz I practically had nothing to do for my role was over and Raj is taking over post production. Greg and Wendy are working on their animation I guess.

Its the first interim that we had and we showed Wahidah our progress so far...well she pointed out some very essential stuff that were in or not in the video. Well, I can't really remember what they were, it was some issues with the ideation takes and the articulation of our voices if I am not wrong. I have to confess that I am a man of blurred words for I tend to speak fast and due to that, I mumble without realising. Oh well, I believe in Raj's ability to make it right, though I know it is going to be hard for him.

Raj rushed for the interim thus he was deprived of sleep and he made some mistake in the renders, but I guess it does not matter much for it is just and interim. What counts is the final thing that we are going to present that will rock people off their chair and applauses will follow after. I can't wait for that day. In the meanwhile, I just have to trust on my other group members to finish up the remaining unfinished work.

I shall go research on animae, in other words, just watch the whole 100 over episodes.

Day37 05/03/08

Whatever we do, we had to complete the scroll scene by today, so it wont burden the time slot of post production.

We came to school with that goal in mind and prepared ourselves with lighters to burn the paper for a rather more ancient look. We learnt that no one in the freaking school would lend us a lighter even if they had one so yea(its exceptional for a person that I am really grateful towards)

We burnt the papers that we cut up, 21 in total including the actual scroll. In the midst of it, Alfie told us that coffee stains would bring out that effect even more...and so we went along with that idea. Its no wonder he teaches ideation.

With that done, after all the staining burning and drying, we rushed to our spot which was the bridge towards the library to setup the scene. We underestimated the scene. Thus, there were many problems like too little scrolls, we had to run up and down to pass the scrolls around, the wind that will blow the scrolls off course and etc.

IT WASN"T EASY I MUST SAY! We took like a lot of shots and I was getting a little hot then. But a cool mind was needed for success so yea...I chilled and continue with the shots. In the end, we didn't really get the exact shots that we had in mind, but Raj said that he can handle it...so I would just leave it all to him from then on...and this marks the end of the our production period.

Day36 04/03/08

Our goal was to finish up our production by filming the last and final scroll scene.

Although we had long decided on an original idea of how the scene is going to go about, however, it seems that instead of making things clearer, it created more misunderstandings. My view was pretty much different from what the rest had in mind. I must say that I was thinking a little too off the track by trying to come up with an idea of an arrow flying pass.

We were all pretty jaded for a while, however, we realised that we can never move on and things like this should have never happened in the first place. Thus, everyone tried thinking of ways to compromise for each of our personal ideas, to prevent further minor conflict. We finalised our idea within an hour, but we decided to film some other minor scenes like individual introduction scenes.

We started off with a group scene, with us walking in a very suave manner just beside the flag poles outside the corridors of Applied Science school. That was pretty easy and after a few takes, I felt that the last one should work out and carried on with Greg's individual scene. It was then where we experienced accident on the set. Well you see, Greg did not possess the ability to climb a ledge that is a just a little over his head thus, Raj tried to show him how. Raj failed. He injured his shin and was in pain. I had no choice but to quickly enlighten Greg, finish up his shot and render aid to Raj.

With that, Greg accompanied Raj to the medic room while I moved on to Wendy's shot. Its not like I did not want to help Raj but we were pressing for time and I had to make sure we finish by today. I am sorry bro, I am sure that was what u wished too...

It seemed that Raj was doing pretty well, at least he can still walk so we did his scene. It was pretty special I guess as he was the only one to get the unique way of introduction as we intended on him to get across to the middle of the fountain to get his shot taken. It looked pretty cool. How did we do that without getting wet? Simple, we used chairs borrowed from design school.

Finally it was my turn. I insisted on the amphitheatre for I really like that place and my group members had no qualms with it. So we decided on that area. I got to admit, my shot was pretty hard for there was no fixed concept and we were all trying out new angles. Greg did a great job in risking his life by climbing on top of 2 chairs at the peak of the amphitheatre. I am grateful. With that, it sums up for the day.

We could not finish the scroll scene, so we didn't really accomplished the target for the day but oh well, days like this are always around. We will just have to learn how to make use of the next day. In all, I considered it a good day for there were much learnt.

Day35 03/03/08

I went to school only to see Raj's lamp complete in action. I was like wow, thats really good! There are some funny things about the action though but it should be fine. He really made the lamp looked as if it was part of the picture. I think the lecturers that saw it would also give their approval of the work that he had done. Good effort.

We then headed off to the amphitheatre to finish up drawing essentials. We started off by planning the shots and where would the set be. We were pretty ambitious about this shots as we decided to use fast and slow motion in it. The thing is, I have never done anything like it and I am the one being filmed together with Wendy. Well, Raj said he knew how to take care of it, so that means all I had to do was just shoot things as per normal.

With that done, We wanted to move on to a reshoot of 2D art fundamentals. However, Greg had to fix his macbook so we idled till 6 before we actually started to reshoot.

This time, we weren't really concerned about the background noises for it was pretty quiest that day and the lighting were better of compared to the previous shoot.

We finally finished around 9, Raj and Wendy took their leave while Greg & I went for dinner. To sum the day up in a word : Tiring.

Day31 28/02/08

Its my turn to be shot, not really shot as in gunshot but camera shot, never mind.

The initial plan was to shoot at the Project1 classroom, however, I felt that it didn't really had anything to do with Photography or video fundamentals. Thus Greg and I went to look around and finally we found our ideal room.

I must say that it was the first time I have been in there, it was really creepy initially. The atmosphere was chilly and the area looked as though some murderous incident took place. Oh well, its just part of my wild imagination, after all...its just the very famous darkroom of Design school.

I tried to look for the switch to light up that area, however, we walked one big round and into the dark area. It was so dark, I couldn't even see my fingers. We didn't realised that we had actually walked one big round until we arrived at the entrance, where all the light switch were, something that we didn't take note of in the first place.

Raj then arrived, followed by Wendy then we started setting up the place, we decided to to use the walkway towards the room with red light for it gave a very interesting perspective and the lighting were ideal as it gave a warm feel to the shots.

For this shot, we decided to apply some new techniques like a very slow pan that reveals more of the area. We also thought of the idea of using the reflection to give an interesting composition. I can really rely on my teammates for they are rather skilled in doing all these too. Kudos to them.

I was actually surprised that Greg's hands were very firm in terms of handling the camera. Together with Wendy's role of maintaining the sound and Raj's directing the the scene, we were done in no time and I think we only used a small portion of the tape. All was finished fast that day, good job Crewsade.

Day30 27/02/08

The day started off with the criteria of finishing Raj's part on 3D animation.

Its about time that we film Raj, he's the last that we have yet to film. like what a cinematographer would usually do, I design the set using whatever Raj have got. I must say, he really got a lot of toys, kind of like me when I was a kid. Then moving on to the lightings & composition of the shot, Man, I sure love doing all those.

Greg again was just being himself, tying to lure Raj's attention away or rather, make him laugh, that guy is really one heck of an annoying person sometimes, we were like being serious and he was making fun out of it. It didn't really matter because Raj was not really affected, ok, maybe he was a little affected.

The process of shooting wasn't as easy as we expected it to be. We had serveral takes for some shots as it was not what we intended it to be. An example would be the last scene whereby Raj was supposed to say "You may ask me, why spend so much time on it? I would say, why not?" Greg didn't agree with the last sentence, he said didn't make sense. He said that it was confusing, I said it was film lingo. Well we finally agreed on sticking to that line for I thought that it would really set an impression. It kind of like my style to set people thinking for every module so that it would be interesting and interactive. To put it bluntly, it done so to either make the audience stay or prevent sleepers. The short discussion proved to be beneficial for it shows that everyone in the group is thinking, at least thats what I feel.

The final scene would be done with an animated lamp that Raj is going to create. I think that he is really working hard on this subject. Its not easy to create something like that. I learnt that in animation funadamentals. Let's just wait for the final piece to be done and appreciate the effort we put in...

Day29 26/02/08

Today we went to Wendy's house to get the second part of Animation Fundamentals done...

Initially, We had everything set up and all we were doing was to wait for Wendy to finish her script. However, due to her speech, we had to keep retaking the shots. Its understandable for she is more chinese speaking thus we helped her through some pronunciation of words.

I began to feel tired halfway through the shoot, I am not sure why. I think its because we shut off all ventilations and it was becoming stuffy and hard to breathe.

We took a lot of breaks before finishing up everything. In Wendy's house, she had very good lighting but only to some specific angle in the Dv Camera. It didn't really affect us in the end for she only have got like 2 shots, so we completed our work fast. I somehow feel very lethargic after the shoot, I think I need more rest.

Day28 25/02/08

Intensive production week starts here...Raj and I Headed to Greg's house to start shooting his part of animation fundamentals.

We took quite a long time to reach his house, along the way, he made a bet to finish shooting within an hour. Well, lets just say that things didn't really his way. He had a fair share of NG's and we wanted perfection, so we took more takes. I really feel that the bloopers we accumulated since day 1 for Greg takes up a lot more than his our air time combined together Oh Greg...

During the take, we faced some minor issues like Greg's leaking Air-con. The leaking sound created affected the background sound so we had to take care of that problem. We also had to clear his uniquely messed up room to make it look like a animator's room.

It was pretty hard to get the lighting right as we did not have to equipments...so we just made do with all that we have. In addition. due to space constrain, we had to carefully frame our shot.

Raj said that the lighting can be corrected in After Effects, so I am leaving the big job to him. After all, he is the most knowledgeable in terms of software techniques compared to the rest of us. But it does not mean that we not any better, each of us has got our own talent, that's what make us good.

We managed to accomplish what we intended and of course, Greg lost his bet. But even so, it spurred him to get the job done quickly and less of messing around. That is a fact that can't be helped, its not really a bad thing. I prefer it that way. So yea, there must be something to restrain him...Haha.

We went our separate ways after that.

Day25 22/02/08

Today is the interim day...

I was penalised for being late...I thought that it was right and wrong at the same time...Reason so for being right was that we were late by 10 mins...and all the reasons for being wrong, It would affect our future because there grades will be the one that will follow us to whatever industry we will be in. In addition, we were just 10 minutes late, is it worth it to for 10 minutes to be exchanged for like 10 years? Can someone do their math to see if its fair. Yes, like Raj said, its vital that we learn this basic things even if we got the skills and stuff. However, even so, I believe that 10 mins is not really that long. besides we were not the first to start, so if things went in place, we would have made it in time. So by right we should be on time...even summon tickets can be waived upon writing in to the government...I believe that I would not need to draw my pen to ink it down in black and white right?

"please do some self-reflection & think over if we should be penalised for that. I am sure that no one would be so uncompassionate or like the hokkein saying "tzek ark" to do something like that. This is not really a workplace but a school. I hope that serious consideration should be made before taking any nessecary action against us. It would go a long way for us and would benefit neither parties."

I saw what the other groups did and I realised that some of them actually did a pretty good job. I thought that Snap was great in their video effects. Not implying anything but I feel confident that Crewsade will be acheiving its goals of getting our filmreel screened during orientation.

First orientation, then, the industry...

I feel that we all should work harder next block because theres really nothing left except project 1 which I think its really great because I got the time for it.

Crewsade...Lets work harder...

Day24 21/02/08

I can say that the day was great. This is the day where I will be filmed for Ideation. We left classes early to come to my house to use my washroom as the set. The reason behind it was that my first sentence started off with "People say that some of the greatest ideas are generated in the toilet" and thus, we had to fit the sentence. Besides, I think its pretty interesting to use a washroom as a set, its something that not many people would use or even thought off.

After having lunch, Raj Wendy and I made our way back home. They were pretty inpressed with the setting of my house...haha thanks. I have to thank Wendy for this, she actually helped me get connected to the internet again, its also the reason I can blog again.

We started filming very soon, I think I made quite a lot of NG, but compared to Greg, mine was nothing...haha. Now I know how greg felt, the tension & the nervousness that creeps into my mind. Yes, all these things were not easy to overcome, but for the sake of my group and due to time constain, I did it.

We manage to finish everything it 10 minutes and that was pretty fast. I guess I do not have as much trouble as greg in terms of the script because I was more famliar with it and also, I am more serious with it and won't laugh around, not that Gregs not serious...haha.

As soon as we were done packing up, we headed back to school. I was assigned to create the map which I thought was darn hard. But then again, it would be a great contribution to the group as I do have some knowledge on photoshop. So I started on it and after that, I couldn't even leave my seat for dinner.

I think its really fun to play around with photoshop and I was really enjoying myself, the result turned out great. It was really what I expected it to look like. However, I think I would need to further enhance the details to make it look more realistic.

This is the great map of D'Oyseuss...

Doesn't really look that fantastic here cuz of the low quality of the format I saved...but yea...its just a glipmse of it

Day23 19/02/08

The moment I reached school, I was prompt by Raj to let Wahidah(the lecturer) check our script for the day before, we made a lot of alterations to the lenghty pages of dry script. Upon checking, she made some interesting points that I kind of agree with like what we are trying to portray & keeping relevant infomation with regards to our theme, An Epic Journey.

I think what we have done with the scrip was a little too much. So we decided to rephrase and reapply some of the things in the script. After that we were deciding on where to shoot 2D Art Fundamentals.

It was probably around evening where DHC lesson was over. It was then were we started work. I gotta say that I am lucky to have Raj Greg & Wendy as my team members.

Raj is serious and he controls the situation well. He is very good in planning & has forsight. Of course, his knowledge in 3d graphic & animation really blow me off my seats sometimes.

Greg, I would say would have to be one of the most hardworking one...or should I say, the one that made the most improvements. His drawing skills gets better by the day & his character design is really very interesting and real. His pressence would really lighten the serious atmosphere that Raj & I emits pretty often.

Wendy...Im sorry about the accident, that caused you to think slower for the time being. She is really really good in being a scribe & she can really animate. I mean look at her mushroom, though its not done, the body language of her character really seem very believable.

Good Jobs Guys...you all inspire me...

Anyway, back to production, we decided to use the deisgn space at 2nd floor to shoot as the ambience and lighting there is pretty epic. The initial idea was to have Greg & Wendy to be surrounded by their art works. However, Raj thinks that having the background would give a sense of depth. So we compromised and put their 1by1m artworks along their side.

We finished off Wendy first as she had to go only to make her come back again to shoot another shot that we missed out.

Sometimes I think that deisgners in Tp deisgn school has gotta respect the production of others. Yes, some are very courteous as to keep silent as told. However, there are some that hurl vulgarities back at us & even create more noise on purpose. If I had that chance when its their turn, I would never do that. You see, its a vicious cycle, someone will have to break that cycle, would that someone be you? I knoe I would.

With the noise problem still among our midst, we continued filming and try to take the good oppotunities whereby theres really silence on the set. After an audious day, we finally finished up, packed up and left for home.

I know that everyone is tired, especially Raj, he still have to work on his part which would take pretty much lots of his sleep time...Keep going bro...

Greg, I know u can do it, show them ur dog...

Wendy, your work will come to meet your need to do more work...

=)

Day22 18/02/08

Day 1 of production...

We went through alot like handling the camera, the lightings, background noises, equipments & accidents on the set.

Yes, accident on the set. I was trying out some angles from the top view, so I put the dvcam & the tripod on the table. Little did I realise that it was so unstable that when I was getting down from the table, it fell hard on Wendy's head.

I felt so guilty about that immediately Raj & Greg went to get ice packs while I tend to Wendy. It must have been a hard knock for it affect the stabilty of momemtum. I think she also puked in the washroom due to dizzy spells...oh no.

It was fortunate that she regained composure later on, we advised her to take the day off and head home, so she did. Yea, Rai & Greg were making fun of me...inside joke.

Later on, we started filming on Greg. He sure took a long time with the script. I can't really blame him, after all, it was Raj and I that compiled the script, thus, we would know better than him.

Problems surfaced as we move on to the shoot. We had to refrain the people there from walking through the set & creating a din. It wasn't easy, some people just don't understand English, I don't really blame them. Besides, we had no rights, so we will have to bear with it.

I feel really tired then, after taking a 5 minute nap, I woke up refreshed and Raj finished editing the script to fit the alocated time limit, which I thought was really short.

We had a bad tripod that cannot turn smoothly thus I decided that its time to use real skills of the hand.

It wasn't easy at all. I tried many methods to keep the dvcam as stable as possible through thing I learnt from video fundamemtals like holding half breath leaning close to my body and etc.

After like 2 to 3 hours of filming, we got it done, I felt that it was a real accomplishment & a good start even though we took so long. I learnt many things throughout the duration of filming too...We'll carry on. =)

Crewsader out...

Day20 16/02/08

Back from Greg's place...I am very tired....I will try to add on some finishing touches to the script...I need rest...

day19 15/02/08

bToday...work resumes...I was late for class again for I thought that there no class ok ALL Fridays. I was wrong.

Anyway...Raj & I decided on staying over at Greg's house to finish up on our script...Ideation & Video/Photography had to be altered for theres too many thing to say...

I think its really hard as there is really very little unimportant stuff to take away...those are the things that has to be said...it seems as like I got no other choice but to cut down on some reflections, maybe even some details of the module...

So yes we did stay over at Greg's house and managed to finish the alterations despite all of us being so tired. I went to sleep for I was really wearing out after finishing up on my part & there goes Raj typing in the stuff...

Overall...We can start production on Monday & hopefully, things goes according to plans....

Day18 14/02/08

Happy Valentine's day...We decided on taking a break here...Work resumes on day 19

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

Day17 13/02/08

The day was short, we realised that our script had some minor issues to be taken care of. The lecturer pointed out some very vital faults we made. One if them would be keeping within the time frame. I had to agree with that for I miscalculated, my fault on that part.

Raj said that we would have to start production next week...I am thankful that we do not have to show what we have shot yet, because we haven done any of that.

I think its aright because 1 thing I learnt in Video Fundamentals is that a Good Pre-Production is would win half the battle in producing good work. Its ok if other have a better head start...its the ending that counts...

Today, we were told to not create anything so epic...or something like that, I disagree. Not that I am taking sides of D'odyssues' theme, but if we are able to then...why not? I believe in freedom of expression, of course...nothing too far-fetched.

We would resume work tomorrow for I think up to now, we have accomplished quite a fair bit.

-Wendy said she had nothing to do...she so does not know what she's in for( Raj & I with evil smile)

-Greg is still drawing really hard...his sketchbook is on fire(not that Wendy's isn't)

-Raj is the do it all guy...nah I am kidding...Good work

As for me...I would handle everything on the productions days itself...So cool

Live honestly... =)

Day16 12/02/08

I was late for class, I had to rush on a draft script which I did not manage to finish. Even so, the day was good.

I think that this is one of the days that we fulfilled the expected work criteria of the day...to finish a draft script for the whole entire film reel...I thought that a script should be what we what to say about our work & the experiences in Tp so I decided to split to Job of scripting writing to the rest of my team mates.

I realised I was doing it wrongly when the lecturer gave me a better description of what a script should look like. I was like "oh god", my efforts went down the drain but not all was lost. the others team members to me to just copy & paste in what I already have in the new script format.

The one doing the script will have an easier time as he or she would just have to look through, alter & compile it together, lightening the work load. That is what I believe a GOOD team should be & yes we are!

After Greg & Wendy finished their part, they left us for they got can't stay for long...I was really serious & committed in finishing the script. That lasted quite a while.

So all that is done and the compiling is left for Raj & I to add the finishing touches. We stayed behind & really put in the best we can to finish it. It wasn't an easy job, various factors and regulations of the script have to be considered.

I was really tired & I believe so was Raj, so I don't think I had any rights to complain. However, even throughout that time of stress & fatigue, we both agreed that if we look back years from now, we would smile & say it was fun.

We gave ourselves a pat on the back when we finished it...and finally leaving to campus for an early night...

Day15 11/02/08

Yes its still Chinese New Year according to the ancient tradition...

Yes...Crewsade is still in the midst of pre-production

Yes...I am tired...but so is everyone....

That would be what a Yes-man would say...yes yes yes(Hai Hai Hai)...thats nice to some extent.

Anyway...We're still onto the scripts...except that we're finalising it together as the final piece...no more roughs...there no time for that anymore...

we practically discussed about the script the whole day...and I will be the one compilling it up...how cool!

To be fair, everyone will do their own scripts because I feel that the script is something that we would want to say about the modules & our own experiences form our own point of view...all it takes is for someone to piece it together...

Anyway...our group presented our idea to the lecturer...and she gave us some pointers that we didn't take note of...thank god for that...

I will be doing my script now...Do not Disturb...

Day14 10/02.08

I took a 5 days break for it was Chinese New Year...and now I am back on track...

Raj & I were invited to Greg's house to discuss on our project...

We finished Synchronising our time like with each other, thus, everything will be smooth sailing if we follow our time schedule.

We started to discuss on the Content, to be more specific, the scripts of each Modules that we're going to present...

Since we're showing our film reel in a rather different manner from the norm as we present based on the modules instead of 2 mins of just show-and-tell that sums up all our work. It would be a lot harder for us to set the timing right for each module...excluding the transition, opening & ending credits.

Thus we decided to use the jump cut effect to synchronise the speech of those that are going to show their work in the modules that they wish to...And we combine the similar things that they say and put them together...so it would be as if they are finishing each others speech...

As for the people that has got individual presentation(I am one of them)...We can have the jump cuts too...but more of just trying to get the brief points of the whole entire speech...in that way...it would seem more interesting & not so boring. In addition, the points that we're going to emphasised on are clear...it's like speaking in point form...

I feel that the idea will work out if we do execute it well...and I have great faith in everyone...so yea...keep it up Crewsade...Everyone will be tired...its a matter of who's lasting the longest... =)

Greg's family members are nice...they treated us very well...Thanks Greg's Family members...

ok...I'm out.

Day9 05/02/08

Alright...Today is presentation...& we did great...except for 1 thing...we forgot to emphasise on contents when we had all that written down...argh

Its alright...what past has past...We take in careful consideration of not letting the content go out of hand when the graphics turn out to be so darn awesome...

We stayed back to plan on our own individual task...

-Wendy & Greg will focus on 2D character design(Drawing talents)

-Raj on Graphics & 3D(He is good at what he does)

-Jem(me) will create the Map...& in time to come...take charge of the cameras(so will I)

No further questions?

Oh yea...I am sick...argh...& Chinese New Year is around the corner

Crewsade GO!

Day8 04/02/08

It a rather important day as there are many things to be finalised on & also...preparing for the presentation the next day....

We practically discussed how everything will be shown...how each module's work will be different in terms of the transitions to the layout, presentation and style of the entire show reel.

We even decided on how our intro is gonna turn out(credits to Raj)...The Dragon the is
Symbolically, the C for Crewsade.inc

Even the audio is pretty much taken care of...in terms of the genre & its compatibility with the Video & visual effects...

Like we discussed a long time ago...our theme is based on Journey...and that is where the title D'Odysseus came about...We start of with the incredible graphic based intro...then with the map style transition, we slowly cover the modules that we faced in the past year.

The interesting & yet tiring part of the whole show reel is the many different forms of grahics animations and cinematographic effects that we aspire to achieve...

Yea...its a big project & we are ambitious...but then with the goal in mind which is that we will be the ones that actually show our work to wow the freshmens next year...watch out! hahah =)

Peace out...wait...the Big Picture...

ok...maybe not that big...but yea, get the point

Day7 11/01/08

We did not meet up today as we each had our own commitments...I was thinking of how advertising grasp the attention of their target audience...And I realised that there are some pointers that are very easily said but not always taken care of...

- Related to Target Audience(TA)

- Subtle but yet coverable messages

- Layout

- Common things that would questions the minds of TA

- The catch of the product must stand out

That was what I noticed...Even though they may have great stuff in it but if its not being shown or advertised appropriately, no one will give a hoots about it...however, if the presentation is effective, TA will find all means to look for it...

Observation plays an important part...Lets start training...

Crewsader...out...

Day6 10/01/08

Camp has ended...I am back home & it was fun...Though it was pretty tiring...

Ideas?

I saw a vid in camp done by the seniors I thought that the effect was great & the special angles used to interview the interviewees are interesting...Slow-Mo can be used in different variations of the film...The interview part can be further improvised into like featuring more of our works than the us...

Further elaborations will be discussed when we meet again.

Day5 09/01/08

We are not meeting up as I will be in Design training camp...So will Wendy & Greg...I am sorry Raj...We will try to stimulate our brains to think during camp...

I think that even though we will not be meeting up for 2-3 days, I am sure our group is capable enough to present...For we have cover many...

HARD WORK PAYS OFF!

Crewsader out...

Day 4 08/01/08

We discussed pretty much more into the detail....Like what the intro should be...how the song can compliment the effect...Like the Loud & sudden parts of the song can be used efficiently on emphasising some important highlights of the film. We also decided on our names...

Our Intro & Ending are Almost Complete...& when it is, all that is left is just the practical part...which I believe would not be easy...But still...If we can talk about it...we can realise it!

"Everything that has a beginning must have an end."

As for the main, which is the middle part of the whole show, we decided to leave it open to better suggestions that we can think of. We do have some ideas to go about doing it but then, we would change or enhance the effects along the way. If we do not have anything else, we already have something to fall back on...Thats how efficient we are.

"Aim for the stars, for if you fall...you land on trees."

We met again after class to go more into detail...however, given our condition at that time, we decided to just take a break & spur one another on for a longer road ahead. Well...We have already taken care of many of our stuff & even exceeded the assigned quota of task to complete...So why worry?

Our group will be in its best condition so as to be in our best condition for everything...And I am prepared to maintain it that way...

Crewsade Rocks!!!(Oh yea...Thats our group name) =)

Day3 30/01/08

Nothing much was accomplished today...

Watching some videos during lecture...I thought of some interesting Cam angles that I can share with my Group mates...The fast-slow effect can be a good way to introduce some of our works...

There are many more...but some are rather redundant...like the lecturer said...Good effects must be put into application that complements the entire film. In addition, we must be consistent...

I am still thinking of a group name & what the film should be called...Man...its more difficult than I expected it to be...

Day2 29/01/08

Day 2 comes in with the presentation of blogs...well...mine wasn't really done in detail...so I decided to add in more Relevant details this round...

Wendy...presenting her Amazingly made blog

Theres Greg...listening...& still asking "How to click to go the site?"

Raj.......I am not sure what he up to...

Ah...Done presenting...Look at his "what a sigh of relief" kind of face...Not

-----------------

We all met up after Design History & Culture to sum up our ideas. Started off with many concepts of our Films like adding in Moving Vectors, Game style layout, Map hopping concept & simply just playing with Camera angle to show the uniqueness of the group...

We wanted to get it done on a Journey based concept...so

Intodution...

There will be a 3D Graphic style intro with our faces & names on it...then onto the name of the Project...

Oh yea...We will also try to come up with our own group Logo & probably even our own T-shirt design(Greg's Brilliant Idea).

Process of Showcasing our works

The Ideas involved are the Map Hopping technique, Game style Layout for certain information, Minority Report Style, Wall Presentation Effects, Cartoon Character Presenters & etc...that pretty much sums it up for now...more would be filled in along the way.

The ending

Again...Cool Graphics(either 2D, 3D or both) that are yet to be revealed...no seriously...Yet to be revealed...We will further brainstorm on the Format & layout of the Entire Film...As for now...we try to compile all the concepts we gathered & try to combine it...not all...but some...if applicable...

We're still thinking of a group name & Logo...did I mention the Logo just now? Yea I did...

Words of encouragement to members:

Greg- Let people talk first can!? Motor mouth...but its good...keep it up for the right cause =)

Wendy- I Think your drawings are nice...appreciate it...

Raj- Do chill with us yea? Haha...Good serious attitude you have there...

We are talents...Haha...I am Proud of my Group members...
"Eh..what prawn(sia)...oii...& etc"
(yea yea...predicted that coming from the other groups...oh well)

Peace out
