Its my turn to be shot, not really shot as in gunshot but camera shot, never mind.
The initial plan was to shoot at the Project1 classroom, however, I felt that it didn't really had anything to do with Photography or video fundamentals. Thus Greg and I went to look around and finally we found our ideal room.
I must say that it was the first time I have been in there, it was really creepy initially. The atmosphere was chilly and the area looked as though some murderous incident took place. Oh well, its just part of my wild imagination, after all...its just the very famous darkroom of Design school.
I tried to look for the switch to light up that area, however, we walked one big round and into the dark area. It was so dark, I couldn't even see my fingers. We didn't realised that we had actually walked one big round until we arrived at the entrance, where all the light switch were, something that we didn't take note of in the first place.
Raj then arrived, followed by Wendy then we started setting up the place, we decided to to use the walkway towards the room with red light for it gave a very interesting perspective and the lighting were ideal as it gave a warm feel to the shots.
For this shot, we decided to apply some new techniques like a very slow pan that reveals more of the area. We also thought of the idea of using the reflection to give an interesting composition. I can really rely on my teammates for they are rather skilled in doing all these too. Kudos to them.
I was actually surprised that Greg's hands were very firm in terms of handling the camera. Together with Wendy's role of maintaining the sound and Raj's directing the the scene, we were done in no time and I think we only used a small portion of the tape. All was finished fast that day, good job Crewsade.

Day30 27/02/08
The day started off with the criteria of finishing Raj's part on 3D animation.
Its about time that we film Raj, he's the last that we have yet to film. like what a cinematographer would usually do, I design the set using whatever Raj have got. I must say, he really got a lot of toys, kind of like me when I was a kid. Then moving on to the lightings & composition of the shot, Man, I sure love doing all those.
Greg again was just being himself, tying to lure Raj's attention away or rather, make him laugh, that guy is really one heck of an annoying person sometimes, we were like being serious and he was making fun out of it. It didn't really matter because Raj was not really affected, ok, maybe he was a little affected.
The process of shooting wasn't as easy as we expected it to be. We had serveral takes for some shots as it was not what we intended it to be. An example would be the last scene whereby Raj was supposed to say "You may ask me, why spend so much time on it? I would say, why not?" Greg didn't agree with the last sentence, he said didn't make sense. He said that it was confusing, I said it was film lingo. Well we finally agreed on sticking to that line for I thought that it would really set an impression. It kind of like my style to set people thinking for every module so that it would be interesting and interactive. To put it bluntly, it done so to either make the audience stay or prevent sleepers. The short discussion proved to be beneficial for it shows that everyone in the group is thinking, at least thats what I feel.
The final scene would be done with an animated lamp that Raj is going to create. I think that he is really working hard on this subject. Its not easy to create something like that. I learnt that in animation funadamentals. Let's just wait for the final piece to be done and appreciate the effort we put in...

Day29 26/02/08
Today we went to Wendy's house to get the second part of Animation Fundamentals done...
Initially, We had everything set up and all we were doing was to wait for Wendy to finish her script. However, due to her speech, we had to keep retaking the shots. Its understandable for she is more chinese speaking thus we helped her through some pronunciation of words.
I began to feel tired halfway through the shoot, I am not sure why. I think its because we shut off all ventilations and it was becoming stuffy and hard to breathe.
We took a lot of breaks before finishing up everything. In Wendy's house, she had very good lighting but only to some specific angle in the Dv Camera. It didn't really affect us in the end for she only have got like 2 shots, so we completed our work fast. I somehow feel very lethargic after the shoot, I think I need more rest.

Day28 25/02/08
Intensive production week starts here...Raj and I Headed to Greg's house to start shooting his part of animation fundamentals.
We took quite a long time to reach his house, along the way, he made a bet to finish shooting within an hour. Well, lets just say that things didn't really his way. He had a fair share of NG's and we wanted perfection, so we took more takes. I really feel that the bloopers we accumulated since day 1 for Greg takes up a lot more than his our air time combined together Oh Greg...
During the take, we faced some minor issues like Greg's leaking Air-con. The leaking sound created affected the background sound so we had to take care of that problem. We also had to clear his uniquely messed up room to make it look like a animator's room.
It was pretty hard to get the lighting right as we did not have to equipments...so we just made do with all that we have. In addition. due to space constrain, we had to carefully frame our shot.
Raj said that the lighting can be corrected in After Effects, so I am leaving the big job to him. After all, he is the most knowledgeable in terms of software techniques compared to the rest of us. But it does not mean that we not any better, each of us has got our own talent, that's what make us good.
We managed to accomplish what we intended and of course, Greg lost his bet. But even so, it spurred him to get the job done quickly and less of messing around. That is a fact that can't be helped, its not really a bad thing. I prefer it that way. So yea, there must be something to restrain him...Haha.
We went our separate ways after that.

Day25 22/02/08
Today is the interim day...
I was penalised for being late...I thought that it was right and wrong at the same time...Reason so for being right was that we were late by 10 mins...and all the reasons for being wrong, It would affect our future because there grades will be the one that will follow us to whatever industry we will be in. In addition, we were just 10 minutes late, is it worth it to for 10 minutes to be exchanged for like 10 years? Can someone do their math to see if its fair. Yes, like Raj said, its vital that we learn this basic things even if we got the skills and stuff. However, even so, I believe that 10 mins is not really that long. besides we were not the first to start, so if things went in place, we would have made it in time. So by right we should be on time...even summon tickets can be waived upon writing in to the government...I believe that I would not need to draw my pen to ink it down in black and white right?
"please do some self-reflection & think over if we should be penalised for that. I am sure that no one would be so uncompassionate or like the hokkein saying "tzek ark" to do something like that. This is not really a workplace but a school. I hope that serious consideration should be made before taking any nessecary action against us. It would go a long way for us and would benefit neither parties."
I saw what the other groups did and I realised that some of them actually did a pretty good job. I thought that Snap was great in their video effects. Not implying anything but I feel confident that Crewsade will be acheiving its goals of getting our filmreel screened during orientation.
First orientation, then, the industry...
I feel that we all should work harder next block because theres really nothing left except project 1 which I think its really great because I got the time for it.
Crewsade...Lets work harder...

Day24 21/02/08
I can say that the day was great. This is the day where I will be filmed for Ideation. We left classes early to come to my house to use my washroom as the set. The reason behind it was that my first sentence started off with "People say that some of the greatest ideas are generated in the toilet" and thus, we had to fit the sentence. Besides, I think its pretty interesting to use a washroom as a set, its something that not many people would use or even thought off.
After having lunch, Raj Wendy and I made our way back home. They were pretty inpressed with the setting of my house...haha thanks. I have to thank Wendy for this, she actually helped me get connected to the internet again, its also the reason I can blog again.
We started filming very soon, I think I made quite a lot of NG, but compared to Greg, mine was nothing...haha. Now I know how greg felt, the tension & the nervousness that creeps into my mind. Yes, all these things were not easy to overcome, but for the sake of my group and due to time constain, I did it.
We manage to finish everything it 10 minutes and that was pretty fast. I guess I do not have as much trouble as greg in terms of the script because I was more famliar with it and also, I am more serious with it and won't laugh around, not that Gregs not serious...haha.
As soon as we were done packing up, we headed back to school. I was assigned to create the map which I thought was darn hard. But then again, it would be a great contribution to the group as I do have some knowledge on photoshop. So I started on it and after that, I couldn't even leave my seat for dinner.
I think its really fun to play around with photoshop and I was really enjoying myself, the result turned out great. It was really what I expected it to look like. However, I think I would need to further enhance the details to make it look more realistic.
This is the great map of D'Oyseuss...

Doesn't really look that fantastic here cuz of the low quality of the format I saved...but yea...its just a glipmse of it

Day23 19/02/08
The moment I reached school, I was prompt by Raj to let Wahidah(the lecturer) check our script for the day before, we made a lot of alterations to the lenghty pages of dry script. Upon checking, she made some interesting points that I kind of agree with like what we are trying to portray & keeping relevant infomation with regards to our theme, An Epic Journey.
I think what we have done with the scrip was a little too much. So we decided to rephrase and reapply some of the things in the script. After that we were deciding on where to shoot 2D Art Fundamentals.
It was probably around evening where DHC lesson was over. It was then were we started work. I gotta say that I am lucky to have Raj Greg & Wendy as my team members.
Raj is serious and he controls the situation well. He is very good in planning & has forsight. Of course, his knowledge in 3d graphic & animation really blow me off my seats sometimes.
Greg, I would say would have to be one of the most hardworking one...or should I say, the one that made the most improvements. His drawing skills gets better by the day & his character design is really very interesting and real. His pressence would really lighten the serious atmosphere that Raj & I emits pretty often.
Wendy...Im sorry about the accident, that caused you to think slower for the time being. She is really really good in being a scribe & she can really animate. I mean look at her mushroom, though its not done, the body language of her character really seem very believable.
Good Jobs Guys...you all inspire me...
Anyway, back to production, we decided to use the deisgn space at 2nd floor to shoot as the ambience and lighting there is pretty epic. The initial idea was to have Greg & Wendy to be surrounded by their art works. However, Raj thinks that having the background would give a sense of depth. So we compromised and put their 1by1m artworks along their side.
We finished off Wendy first as she had to go only to make her come back again to shoot another shot that we missed out.
Sometimes I think that deisgners in Tp deisgn school has gotta respect the production of others. Yes, some are very courteous as to keep silent as told. However, there are some that hurl vulgarities back at us & even create more noise on purpose. If I had that chance when its their turn, I would never do that. You see, its a vicious cycle, someone will have to break that cycle, would that someone be you? I knoe I would.
With the noise problem still among our midst, we continued filming and try to take the good oppotunities whereby theres really silence on the set. After an audious day, we finally finished up, packed up and left for home.
I know that everyone is tired, especially Raj, he still have to work on his part which would take pretty much lots of his sleep time...Keep going bro...
Greg, I know u can do it, show them ur dog...
Wendy, your work will come to meet your need to do more work...
=)
